Social and Emotional Learning
Social and emotional learning (SEL) has five core competencies, according to the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning Organization: Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.
Teaching children these skills has shown to improve executive functioning skills.
Children become more attentive and engaged as they learn.
Most importantly, children have been shown to become more hopeful and optimistic.
They also tend to show more perseverance and act more conscientiously.
